Back in August, it was reported that Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo team up to create a file-sharing system without the internet, just like Apple Airdrop.

Back in August, it was reported that Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo team up to create a file-sharing system without the internet, just like Apple Airdrop. Without using the Internet, users of these smartphone brands can transfer files at a speed of up to 20 Mbps.

According to new report, OnePlus, Realme, Black Shark, and Meizu have also joined the alliance, as the brands announced on China’s Twitter-like social media Weibo. The file transferring protocol supports multiple file formats, high speeds, and is cross-brand, OnePlus says.

Overall, it’s expected to offer performance much higher than standard Bluetooth file transfers and will work without the user having to download any additional applications.

Thanks to this, cross-device file transfer support will soon be coming to devices from these manufacturers, allowing users to easily share files without the need for any third-party applications.

The move is expected to benefit over 400 million users around the world. For those of you who are not yet aware, the file transfer protocol supports a variety of file formats and it even lets users share entire folders with each other. The protocol supports file transfer speeds in the order of 20MBps over a stable connection, which is significantly better than file transfers over Bluetooth.

Some smartphones from the aforementioned brands may be getting the new file transfer feature via an update, while the Chinese brands’ future devices should be coming with it out the box, though it’s not known how soon we can expect any of that.

Samsung has launched a new security chip that has attained the highest ever security rating for a mobile component.

Samsung has launched a new security chip that has attained the highest ever security rating for a mobile component.

Common Criteria, an entity that certifies IT equipment on a scale from EAL0 to EAL7, gave the S3FV9RR security chip a rating of 6+.

Samsung’s new security solution – which comprises this new chip along with improved security software – offers protection for tasks including booting, mobile payments, and isolated storage, Samsung said in a statement.

According to Samsung, the solution can work independently from the security performance of a device’s main processor, making it more versatile and expanding the security capabilities of mobile devices, IoT applications, and other devices.

“With the new standalone security element solution (S3FV9RR), Samsung is mounting a powerful deadbolt on smart devices to safeguard private information.”

Samsung said that its new solution is a significant improvement over its previous-generation security chip, which received a Common Criteria EAL rating of 5+.

It added that the new solution offers support for twice the secure storage capacity, and also supports hardware-based root of trust (RoT), secure boot, and device authentication.

“…As a bootloader initiates, a chain of trust is activated through which each and every firmware with approved keys is sequentially validated.”
“This secure booting process is handled by the RoT, guarding the device against any possible malicious attacks or unauthorized software updates.”

This new security chip is expected to be available within the third quarter of 2020.

If you’ve not been using Opera mini browser for a while, you might want to revisit it because a lot of updates have been rolled out since you left.

Opera Mini 50 has been rolled out to millions of Android users and opera lovers… In the major upgrade, the popular browser has fully revamped its user interface to allow its users a more personal and intuitive way to interact with the browser features they love the most.

Opera Mini 50 is a small, fast, and powerful browser. It comes with unique features such as the data compression technology, a download manager with offline file-sharing capabilities, and a built-in ad-blocker.

The biggest change in the new update is made to the status bar at the top, which has been redesigned with new functionalities. It will show a variety of information like welcome messages while browsing, greetings, hints, notifications with the latest news, coming updates in the browser, or events from partners.

Along with this, the new status bar will display a Data Savings widget that shows users their data consumption at a glance. Opera claims to have the best data-saving browser on the market, with nearly 81% of mobile data on average when an extreme mode is turned on.

Offline File Sharing is a pretty useful feature in the Opera Mini browser that was added recently. Now, Opera Mini 50 includes a shortcut for offline file sharing on the new navigation bar at the bottom of the browser screen. From here, users can quickly share images, videos, and audio files with nearby devices at super high speeds over Wi-Fi.

Since the beginning of 2020, Opera has partnered with MTN and Airtel in Nigeria to bring free browsing up to 50MB to its users and those using MTN and Airtel networks.

After unveiling the cheapest 5G phone in the market few days ago, Xiaomi has revealed that they are already working on 6G satellite network.

After unveiling the cheapest 5G phone in the market a few days ago, Xiaomi has revealed that they are already working on 6G satellite network. This may sound too sudden but the company’s got great plans.

The executive also revealed that Xiaomi has cleared its 4G phone line in China to make way for 5G phones… meaning you’ll likely see more of 5G phones from Xiaomi being launched this period onward.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun told the state-run Xinhua News agency that the manufacturer has started preliminary research on 6G technology. The executive didn’t divulge any more details, but they’d be joining the likes of Huawei and Samsung in confirming work on 6G.

Reports also suggest that the company will work to develop solid satellite internet technologies in the future.

Satellite internet is a key technology for people living in rural areas, where mobile networks and fixed-line infrastructure leave much to be desired. Xiaomi offers plenty of internet-based services in China, so increased internet penetration via satellite internet should ultimately benefit the company.

The WhatsApp payment system announced in 2018, was supposed to be launched late last year but was postponed.

The WhatsApp payment system announced in 2018, was supposed to be launched late last year but was postponed. But you can now send and receive money through WhatsApp securely within your chat with family, friends, and businesses if you live in Brazil.

WhatsApp payment system will allow you to send money to friends and family over text. WhatsApp Payment is powered by Facebook Pay and will allow you to send money to friends and family effortlessly.

According to WhatsApp, the payment was built with security, and a six-digit PIN or fingerprint will be required before transactions can be completed. This is to prevent unauthorized transactions.

At the moment, WhatsApp payment is supported by Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards from Banco de Brasil, Nubank, and Sicredi. WhatsApp also says it is working with Cielo, Brazil’s leading payments processor, and has built an open model to make it easy for more partners to join in the future.

The good news is that the payment via WhatsApp doesn’t attract a charge when you send or receive money save for businesses that will have to pay a processing fee to receive payments from their customers.

Sending money or making a purchase on WhatsApp is free for people. Businesses will pay a processing fee to receive customer payments, similar to what they may already pay when accepting a credit card transaction.

The service is already rolling out to users and should arrive for everyone in the coming weeks.

No word yet on when the payment feature will roll out to more countries but we are hoping it will roll out to all countries soonest. Do you think this will be a better alternative to PayPal?
